Default SH3 Commander Help Question

Hello everyone.

Just joined this excellent hub of experts and I'm happy to be here with you all.

I'm a total newbie and I've just recently prurchased SH3. I've already modded it with GWXE3-Gold and the SH3 Res Fix. Thankfully (so far at least), everything is set up and working nicely on my W10 system.

My Question then.

Can I safely install SH3 Commander 3.2 without having to uninstall GWXE3 first?

Thanks.

Can SH3 Commander be installed anywhere? I ask because I have the Steam version of SH3 so I'm not sure if SH3 Commander should be installed inside the SH3 directory itself or whether I can install outside of it.

Thanks.

Hi Runnerbean Wecome to SubSIM

when I got my new pc I tried to install SH3 and Commander mod to c:/program files x68 and they didn't like it sh3 kept crashing
so copied n pasted original sh3 install to a folder in my documents called Wolfpack and the Commander Mod installed in another folder called Wolfpack HQ and it works swell no more crashing
you will also need the GWX gold Commander mod config file you install that in your SH3 folder of your GWX install link below for commandercfg file
when you install your commander mod it will ask you where your sh3 is located so direct it to your sh3 install so sh3 and the commander mod will talk to each other so to speak when you have installed the commander mod unpack and run the commandercfg in you sh3 folder were your games installed n your good to go

happy hunting

Just to be clear.

I have SH3 and the GWXE-Gold mod all ready up and running fine. Everything thing is good there.

Now I want to install the SH3 Commander - So I downloaded it.

Also, the SH3 Commander Config files - downloaded.

Now before the Commander config files can be installed, the main SH3 Commander Mod must be installed first as per instructions. Ok, I get that.

So, installation path - can I install it anywhere outside of the main SH3 Directory or does SH3 Commander have to be installed 'Inside' the SH3 main game folder??

I know where the Commander Config files go so I'm ok with that one.

Thanks.

Hi Rb
GWX like SH3Commander can be installed anywhere.
These applications look for your SH3.exe
Do not forget to install the 4gb patch.
Run Windows 10 in compatibility mode for Windows 7.
Run all your exe applications as administrators.

Oh, Not Windows XP then or does it matter? When playing stock SH3 my compatibility mode was set to Windows XP and I didn't seem to experience any issues in the few hours I've played it.

Rb
If XP works for you then no need to change anything.
If your game starts to crash before loading a saved game then change to Windows 7.
