Default Launching Depth Charges out of a torpedo tube/Mark X Depth Charge

Hello,

I´m working on an ASW-Mod in which I also want to have the Mark X and Mark X* Depth Charges.

There comes the Problem.
Is it possible to launch DC´s out of the Torpedo tubes or is it impossible?

Next one: Is it possible to implement the Squid Thrower or has it already been done?

Regards

Padi,

1 -- yes, it would be possible to create torpedo launchers ejecting the Mk. X DCs. However, it would require a trainable launcher. However, DC throwers in SH are not supposed to be trainable.

BTW -- the Mk. X was given only to a few A to I destroyers converted to convoy escorts; use was also very limited.

2 -- doing the Squid is possible; since similar to the Hedgehog, which is in SH3. During WWII, the Squid was used only on ships designed for (i.e., Castle class corvettes/frigates, Loch class frigates). So, introducing the Squid would require doing the appropriate ships. Are you going to build the Castle and Loch classes?

Cheers

No, I don't have the skills required to build a ship.
But I assume that someone build the classes once the Squid is modded or I'm going to learn it.

Today I have also read from a weapon called "Mousetrap" which was a "little version" of the Hedgehog designed for use on PCs, SCs and smaller crafts.
That would also be very interesting to have in SH3.

I recall talks about the squid but don't recall why no one did it for SH3.

Padi,
modding the Squid may require doing the 3D model ... but it's less tricky doing an entire ship.

Try finding a book on US PT boats. Usually, there is a description of the Mouse traps.

Jeff-Groves,
I remember someone stating: I could do the Squid, I don't do it

Hi,

are Hedgehog projectiles depth-charges in SH3? If yes, how is the detonation depth determined? IIRC, Hedgehogs only explode on contact, but depth-charges have a detonation depth.

LGN1,

as far as I remember, SH3 Hedgehog projectiles explode correctly upon contact. It's long ago I have been hit by one of them ...
