Default Anyone here playing Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm?

I like that game but I don't want to begin progress through that railed campaign again.

There was a tool that let you customize seasons, I think it was called null's customizer or something like that. Anyone still have it or know where it can be downloaded? Now that the greenwave forum is deleted there is hardly any information in the web concerning Alaskan Storm.

I found it. Now lets me set up storm or random weather from the very beginning.

They made a game of it?!

Looks cool. Is it really a sim, or just "kinda"?

It was quite nice when I played it. Very good atmosphere when you are sailing in a storm at night, switching your cabin lights on and off just to keep yourself busy with something.

I think it's pretty unique, and it's definitely more of a sim. Pity they never fixed the bugs and also never opened up the game for modders. Now it seems the developer went bust and it's too late.

Doesn't sound to bad; Try driving a train in something like Railworks, that'll have you bouncing off the walls in no time.

I still love it though.

Thanks, unique is good.

Liquid Dragon Studios... another thing I never heard of. Bugs as in gamebreaking, pretty bad or passable? Might give it a go at some point.

Some point in the next year, probably. If I calculated what I spend on games in the last 3 months I'll probably through myself out a window.

Havent played any of the train sims, but I'm pretty big fan of the 18 wheels of steel truck sims. I dont know why, but I just love to drive around, especially during the night.

I have got it and don't know that I would call it a sim.

I guess in a way it is, but it really just got monotonous for me. A good game to visit once in a while, but not one that I play alot of.

Remarkable logic!

I think it is both a sim, and very good one. But it is brought down by low difficulty, when I put my pots in the dark red areas and let them soak for 48h, I always catch about the same amounts, so quickly all excitement is gone when the first pot gets lifted.

On the other hand, the environment feels brutally realistic, if you try to fish during dangerous weather the boat can sink, and crewmembers can die, and you must think very hard how to get the most out of your crew and boat without overworking them.

So what this game needs is a realism / difficulty mod that removes the godseye (survey). As it is, it feels playing SHIII with the spysat mod. Anyone knows who this nullcharacter dude is? I would like to contact him concerning questions how he modded the db files.

The game is a good game... has some bugs and the ships don't handle that great. but the atmosphere is pretty good (Limited resolutions was a downer) but other than that the waves are really nice. and the game will sometimes throw problems at ya. (hurt crew, cranky tired crew, ect) There is acouple of other boats out there with you. (not hundreds but afiew.) and the map is scaled down... which is abit of a small scale for me with is had been alittle bit bigger, but its better than sailing for a entire day. lol

(And dowly just reminded me about 18 WOS games... pretty good, quite fun driveing around... especialy now that i have a steering wheel. lol.

Ahh that's your misunderstanding of the game surveys . The difficulty is
quite high because it demands you to realise the surveys as shown on the map are dated, and not current. You have to realise the crab can move,
so the reason you get the same numbers is because you keep to the same
red part of the survey. Sometimes, the best spots are in the red, and
othertimes they are in the blue. You have to know a little of the behaviours on the crab.

As for the boat rolling over, of course it will, if u drive it unsafely. ie doing a reach run (running parallel to high seas) will roll the boat Sometimes u just have to sleep te crew n put ur bow to the waves n ride it out.

Played it a few times. I was impressed with the storms. Got caught in a really, really bad one that just seemed to creep up on me; low waves at first, but before long it was all I could do just to keep the boat from capsizing. Probably the best part of the game aside from finding a really good crabbing spot.

FileFront deletes your files if they become "inactive". I've re-uploaded it. Enjoy!

P.S. I don't know if it'll work with the 1.1 patch for DCAS. I haven't played the game since it came out. Good luck.
