Default How sad

Hi Guys,

I'm a big fan of the Silent Hunter series. I used to sail these Subsim waters a lot, and interact with Neal, Dan and the guys. The SHIII days were great fun. Yesterday I found out about SH Online, so I went to check it out. What a total disaster. I'd rather have got Ebola. I'm not sure who the game is aimed at. It's an insult to a sub simmer and of little or no interest to a gamer. Maybe one day we'll get the WWII subsim we've always dreamed of.

Hi to my chums here.

Yeah right.

Because subsims should be developed and managed by subsimers and game by gamers.
Not suits with marketing and managment degree.

You can stop playing Silent Hunter Online any time you want.

At least 9000 people have already died from Ebola.

Sounds to me like Silent Hunter Online is preferable to having a fatal disease.

Ebola is only about 50% fatal.

Silent Hunter Online is 49% fatal, so it's still better.

Good to see the old timers still here. I really don't get SH Online. I felt like I was piloting an underwater Drone. To each his own I guess.

I don't get the concept of SHO......or the demographic for that matter. I think that there should be a Drone war game though

The concept of SHO is simple, The silent hunter series we have spent decades growing to love has evolved into what most PC games are evolving into... an attempt to fool you into thinking it is free so they can get you to perpetually pay for it for as long as you continue to play it.

several of the "world of ___ " games come to mind.

In the good old days we used to shell out $60 for a good PC game... now you just download it for free, there is enough action and playability to draw your interest so that you will part with the 99 cents to reload a torpedo or 25 cents to refill your fuel or $1.00 for the next submarine version.

or you can play for free all the way and wait 3 days for fuel to regenerate, or 6 weeks for a new sub type - whatever, the numbers im mentioning are completely hypothetical because i have no idea what the real numbers are, but the point is the same

on a long enough time line, you have paid many times over your $60 to play a game, which in my opinion, is not as enjoyable as its predecessors to start with.

I have read the good the bad and the ugly about SHO from the very moment it was announced to the world.

based on the merits of my observations and reading of the experiences of others, i have decided not to waste one second of my limited time on this earth fooling with it.

To be fair the "world of" games are balanced so those who don't want to pay still have a fair chance. Plus it's not as grindy as most F2P plays either which is a plus.

tell it to my vast acreage of rusted out toy tank parts that were blown away by some 12 year old kid's King Tiger tank that he got with mom's credit card, sorry but im a grown man... I dont need to spend the dough or play through weeks at a time to upgrade to a better tank or submarine or gun - there's too much intercourse to be had and work to be done for me to be pouring too much time or money into such things. Just let me pay the $50-60 and get the full meal deal installed on my local machine so i can play whenever i want

You mean pay $40-50 for the early access beta. Not many games come anywhere near finished 'out the box' today.
