Default I Need Guidance.

What`s going on guys!

So I have decided to pick up SH4 (Wolves of the pacific) from Steam. SH-4 is the the only SH game I skipped, I don`t know why, maybe it had to do with the weird looking american submarines... But now I am ready for it!
I am currently doing a let`s play of SH-5 on my youtube channel, and I enjoy that game immensely. But I want a change of environment, and the pacific sounds great to me as well as experience the american submarines and the american side of the war.
But before I pick up this game I need some help from you guys, because I have some important questions I need answering. I know nothing about modding this game.
Thank you very much!

# Will the game run flawlessly on windows 10 64 bit?
# Can I play the game in 16X9 resoultion 1920X1080?
# Do I need the expansion u-boat missions?
# Is the game plagued with crashes/bugs?
# Is it as hard to mod as the Steam version of SH5? (I reckon I need to mod this game to get the best experience)
# Which modpack do you guys recommend? I am going to play the game with full realism, except external view.
# I want a modpack that enhance the graphics as much as possible, same with the the gameplay.
# How different is this game compared to SH-5 when it comes to manual tageting with no map contacts?

1. The game will run as flawlessly as it can, but there are some stock issues in the game, some of which even modding can't get rid of, but it runs great, really.

2. Yes, no prob

3. Need? no - Want? yes... most of the mods available today are for the v1.5, which is the UBoats add-on. Besides, you'd probably like to drive a UBoat around the Pacific a bit, just to feel a little more at home, even if it's not as perty as SH5, and the traffic is a bit over-the-top in stock... not forgetting to mention (which I almost did), the Steam version is SH4 v1.3, which is probably about the worst version of SH4 there is. It used to be that you could patch it v1.4, but it seems that most of the users lately can't get it to take... that leaves you with another $10 purchase for the UBoats... sorry

4. There are several instances where a CTD can be encountered in stock. Most of those have to do with RGG that aren't "defined" properly, which is a fixable problem. Time Compression is another problem at times, in that the game doesn't react fast enough at the higher TC levels. Generally speaking, if something doesn't work correctly, most times it will be a user configuration problem. Consult CapnScurvy's LAA and Windows 10 write-up, since that will alleviate a lot of issues, just being able to access more ram.

5. No. Much much easier to mod than SH5 - However... the Steam installs will "default..." to the Windows' Program Files (x86) folder, and that does cause issues. You have to manage the install setup in your Steam account so that it installs in something other than a Windows' "protected" folder, else it will magically "erase" your mod edits...

6. Using MultiSH4 and try them allllll....

7. At the moment, I'm very partial to the FotSRU mod, click on the picture to left in my signature...

8. That, I don't know... I can't hardly get up and down the ladders in SH5, much less come up with a solution for shooting... I have issues in SH4 to this day still, though I do hit an enemy shore line every once in a while... The US boats have a Position Keeper (PK), and it is your friend... Rockin Robbins has a few YouTube vidz on SH4 that are very informative and helpful...

FOTRSU is definitely the best eye candy mod for SH4. The earlier supermods were working in a CPU and video card reality where you could either have great gameplay or great eye candy. Now there are no such limitations.

We come closer to the eye candy standards of GWX that any other supermod, and with the better graphics of SH4 FOTRSU (Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate) just rocks, with completely remade visuals and sounds from the stock game. When a shell passes overhead you'll duck.

EDIT: Never mind. I`ve done installed it all by my lonesome, seems to be working.
