Default Variable Range Table

Finally got smart (if that is possible).

Taking another look at making range tables for mils vs. target height, for use with a periscope / uzo.

Making an Excel file that looks like the classic height (mast height whatever) of a target ship along the bottom and Mils of your periscope / Uzo whatever off on the left.

Using Excel to compute the variable which always is.... the zoom factor.
So, where the chart says the zoom factor , that is the remaining variable.
Put whatever zoom number fits and the other cells of the chart will fall into place.

Example, you can easily make quick charts:
GXW: 1.5x and 10x for the attack scope; 1.5x and 4.5x for the observation scope.
Hitman: (proper historical zoom settings) 1.5x and 6x respectively for each scope.
Uzo: 7x (most) 10x (some of the newer (1941 ish) ones Hitman comments on in Hitman GUI).
Magui : can even do one for 12x on the attack scope.

The point is...all this is one Excel file to create print out charts for different "optics" on your sub.
So let us say for your next cruise you need a 1.5x, 4.5x and 10x for the GWX scopes, and a 7x for the Uzo.
Change that one zoom factor on the chart and hit the print button and eventually you have 4 print-outs for that cruise.

Don't know if this has been done before. Doubt it is an original idea given the long history of dev work with the game.

I will get it done fairly soon.

I suspect that this would also solve the problem with some mods where the Mils don't always match up on the scope due to the complexities of the game mod effort. Put in the zoom variable that works with testing with different ships.... and all done.

"Range....mark....bearing ...mark.
"Can't tell Number One but I am going to use the top of the pilot house and call it 15 meters.".....

Yes...it is 2018 and people are still doing things for SH3.

Looking forward to it Leoz! Aligns well with the methods I outline in my tutorial in my sig. Range using reticle only is more than enough!
