Hi YF

consistently crashes to desktop at the very end of the loading bar.
This is a classic compatibility problem with your OS.

The DirectX runtime version is 12. Is that a problem?
Yes it has to be version 9C.

I would suggest you start from scratch and do not use any previous saved games.
Windows 10 needs to be run in compatibility mode Windows 7
Use a registry cleaner and re-boot your system before re-installing SH3.
Direct x 9C should be included with your SH3 game.
Start the stock game and go to the Naval Academy and select the navigation tutorial.
Your screen ratio will be the default 4.3 for the stock game.
If your game does not crash then follow the installation instructions for LSH3-2015 which can be found in my tutorials.
Run as administrators.
SH3.exe
JSGME
SH3Commander
HsieOptionsSelector

Thank you for your friendly help. It seems to be working. I'm especially glad that I managed to revive my old savegame with the youtube let's-play. Somehow Nvidia automatically keeps updating to 382.05, yet it runs without issue.

This time I unzipped a working steam edition, copied it to c:\games\lsh3\sh3, applied the SFSF steam fix, installed LSH3 v15, ran JSGME and HSIE Option selector. I am running SH3.exe in Win XP SP 2 compatibility mode, as Administrator and with the DPI Optimization turned off.

I have no clue why it works now and not before. It seems to me that several things should still cause issues, yet it works. I have a feeling that the SFSF steam fix had a major impact, but I don't know for sure.

Anyway, I'm back in business and hopefully I can upload new episodes soon onto my channel ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-5...YI7O9L4qLzg2Yw )

Thanks again THEBERBSTER for your kind support.

Hi YF
I think the fix is here.

DPI Optimization turned off.
382.05 should not be problem now if you are already using it and your game is running ok.

Thanks for the YOUTUBE link I have added my subscription.

I had this turned off before. Eventually we'll solve the riddle
