BleachAV8B put a interview of VEAO in PCPilot magazine, show Eurofighter, and a Tanker and WW2 fighters plans

It's my understanding the magazine is on newsstands in Europe already (it is a UK based magazine after all..) but I haven't received my mailed issue here in the United States yet. There is always the option of buying online the digital copy:

When I submitted the questions, I was surprised at some of the answers we received too - and excited! The possibility of a tanker and the future WW2 platforms is pretty cool. Of course, I'm a button pusher, so I'm positively salivating about the Typhoon. Bring it on!

And as a big fan of realism and training type stuff..I think the Hawk is going to be a big hit with both single players and online squadrons.

Exciting times ahead.

Thanks again to Chris and VEAO for their assistance with the article...

VEAO announced "Warbirds Collection":

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...30&postcount=1
Quote:
Announcement: DCS Warbirds Collection

VEAO Simulations Ltd, London, 22nd April 2014.

VEAO Simulations are pleased to announce that we are in contract to develop the “DCS Warbirds Collection” for the DCS World flight simulator.

For the first iteration, the following aircraft modules are being developed:
HA-112 Hispano Buchon
Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV
F8F-Bearcat
Curtiss P-40F

All aircraft will have the External Flight Model (EFM) and Advanced Systems Modelling (ASM) to DCS fidelity standards. As with all of our modules, we will develop these aircraft to military specifications.

The modules in the collection will be released separately, as they are developed, and will be sold for $39.99 each.

We expect the first module to be ready at the end of this year (Q4 2014) with the remaining modules expected for release up to Q2 2015.

Future aircraft in the collection are being discussed, as well as terrain maps, and further details will be announced at an appropriate time.

A separate team is working on these modules which will not affect development of any current module.

We would like to thank the Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics for their continued support, as well as you, the community, for the overwhelming support you give us.

Chris and the VEAO team.

Probably to encourage people to get that DCS:WWII that Ilya Shevchenko is working on, that's going to have a K4 apparently.

VEAO Warbirds Collection Brochute

https://www.facebook.com/pages/VEAO-...ation=timeline
Quote:
As with the Hawk brochure for Legends this weekend, here is the Warbirds Collection one.

Please note, aircraft you see on the brochure are still very much WIP and obviously we will update the brochure to reflect the four aircraft mentioned when we have them in-sim.

This brochure is specifically for Legends and not the final one.

Thanks,
Chris.

Update July VEAO, waiting to the Bae license.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/VEAO-...992838?fref=ts
Quote:
Hawk update July 2014

So, this weekend we're splitting the Hawk into two, not literally of course lol

There will be the base Hawk in DCS World which the AI will use and you can see flying around negating the need for a multiplayer patch which we put out before.
Then there will be the "paid" section which is essentially the activation part as our copy protection system will allow you to sit in the cockpit but not fly the aircraft unless you have a valid activation code.
Both of these sections will then be uploaded into The ED testers version for them to test and report any bugs. Luckily most of the ED testers we have assigned are already on our test team so not much should be found.

You will then see the Hawk appear in DCS World at some point in the future.
We can't confirm which version yet but as soon as we know I'll let you know.
I'm not sure if we'll make the Sabre update version but will try our best.

The website and store are being worked on also right now by a very talented web designer in the US who is a good friend of one of our developers.
The Hawk product pages are being built and we'll get our testing team to try it out prior to going live.
This will be a seamless payment experience if bought through our site.
We will then pass that product info in a format to ED for their web site and pass over thousands of activation codes for their star force database which allows you to buy from their store (still using our protection system).

Then it's the Steam pages, I'm putting together the info needed for those and again producing activation codes for that database.

So, when we said soon, we meant soon

Legal stuff is very nearly there and will tie in with release.

Very exciting times for DCS in the next few months for sure!!

Cheers,
Chris.

I'm assuming the same would apply to the Typhoon, as well.

Hopefully you can wrap them both up in one swoop (along with any future projects... ahem!)
Most aircraft have to be developed to demonstrate to manufacturers what you're doing.
It's a very convoluted process I won't go into here.
We've been in discussions with BAE for over 2 years now as it's not just the Hawk we need a licence for from BAE. Also they're not set up for this kind of thing as it's not been done to this level before.

Don't forget we're doing military as well as consumer products.

Cheers,
C

VEAO Roarmap :

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=127100
Quote:
Hey Guys,
We thought it would be good for you to know our development roadmap.

DISCLAIMER:
The list is not final and will be changed at any time depending on contracts, agreements, discussions, etc. but this is our current roadmap.
The dates shown are indicative and not final!!

As Wags says, everything is subject to change...

For the packs, we will be doing certain discounts for number of aircraft bought, etc. and this is still being discussed and details will be revealed closer to sale time.

We are currently having discussions with aircraft manufacturers, owners of aircraft and collectors so some things may be included in packs and collections may not yet be shown on here but I'll update the list as and when we have agreements.

We will keep this list as up to date as possible as things develop and contracts are agreed.

We have multiple teams working on different projects, so the old "finish one before you start another" is not relevant. We will not overstretch the teams or the business!!

The * next to the aircraft indicates that we are in contract with ED for those.

We hope you like the selection of aircraft and maps and look forward to a great future in DCS with you!!

Cheers,
Chris.

Meteor Project turn VEAO official project

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...&postcount=345
Quote:
Gloster Meteor added to the list.
We have just taken on a modeller that has an amazing model already made and looking forward to adding this iconic aircraft to our roadmap.

The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the Allies' first operational jet aircraft during the Second World War. The Meteor's development was heavily reliant on its ground-breaking turbojet engines, pioneered by Sir Frank Whittle and his company, Power Jets Ltd. Development of the aircraft itself began in 1940, although work on the engines had been underway since 1936. The Meteor first flew in 1943 and commenced operations on 27 July 1944 with No. 616 Squadron RAF. Nicknamed the "Meatbox", the Meteor was not a sophisticated aircraft in terms of its aerodynamics, but proved to be a successful combat fighter.

VEAO confirm develop of DCS: Vampire and DCS: Meteor Classic Jets Collection to 2015

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130652
Quote:
VEAO Simulations Ltd, London, England. 19 September 2014

VEAO Simulations Ltd are excited to announce that we are in contract to produce two British iconic jet aircraft for DCS; the Dehavilland Vampire and the Gloster Meteor within our Classic Jets Collection.

Vampire
The Dehavilland Vampire is a classic British jet which actually made its first flight in 1943, The variant we will be focusing on initially is the Fb5, a single seat fighter bomber which served with the RAF and a variety of other countries. Capable of carrying a variety of bombs or rockets or being equipped with fuel tanks for extra range, this twin boom fighter was utilised in the Royal Air Force for over a decade in a variety of roles including being the first jet powered aircraft to complete a carrier landing!

The Vampire saw combat in Malaya with the RAF as well as many smaller conflicts around the world with other air forces.

With a range of over 1200 miles the Vampire was a versatile and capable aircraft and we look forward to being able to present her to you in 2015!

Meteor
The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter. Taking its first flight in 1943 the Meteor saw combat in World War 2 firstly with 616 Squadron. With nearly 4000 produced the affectionately nicknamed "Meatbox" due to its interesting aerodynamic behaviour was a favourite amongst fighter pilots for years.
Commonly mistaken for an Me262 in flight, the Meteor claimed over 40 confirmed kills during the war so can you survive the gauntlet of being the first to engage the enemy successfully in combat?

We will be focussing on the F3 Variant of the Meteor, armed with 4 x 20mm cannons and a variety of bombs and rockets the Meteor is capable of completing a variety of missions.

Give yourself the chance to fly the first operational Allied Jet aircraft. We look forward to bringing the Gloster Meteor to DCS in 2015!

Development Team
The Vampire and Meteor will both be fully interactive Advanced Systems Modelled (ASM) cockpits and External Flight Models (EFM) to Professional level.

New forums will be opened up shortly so keep an eye out for the first iterations of eye candy.

We also have a new team set up to deliver these iconic aircraft and future aircraft in the collection, so as not to impede work on existing and other future projects.

Chris, Pete and the Classic Jets Collection Team.

VEAO get a May update our production lines.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143732
Quote:
Hey Guys,

I thought I would do an update post for people to give you all an idea of what work is progressing and where on our various projects…Seeing as we have so many it’s easier to do one post with the updates, I will then attach a few renders/screenshots over the coming days of where things are at.

So time for some updates on the warbirds and consumer facing products from me and the guys.

So Duxford…

Anyone that came to see us at Duxford had the opportunity to try out our EFM demonstration with the Edge 540, before anyone asks yes it does have its own clickable pit etc and is running on our ASM code as well. I love flying that little plane and we wanted to put something out that people could come and throw around the sky and really experience the excellent work that our programmers have been doing. I don’t have any confirmed release plans for this yet (if at all) but it is something I will seriously look into come the back end of the year.

P-40F

The model is now complete and the damage model is currently being worked on, I have seen a lot of the work that is going on and I can assure you that the damage is as much model as it is texture and I love the way that it looks beaten up, That said I hope to see more P-40’s in one piece then smashed online!

We have agreement from The Fighter Collection to obtain sound recordings from their P-40F for the sim and will be doing those recordings in the coming weeks. The aircraft is in sim, on our EFM and ASM. It is not yet complete but work is progressing well, this was one of the reasons we worked on the Edge 540 so we could trial a few things, this has sped up a lot of the back end fiddly work on the P-40. The engine modelling is simply stunning, I can’t wait to show you guys some of the cool things that have been implemented.

Textures are being worked on and the external is pretty much done now the internal is speeding along and people will be pleased to know that it is a good step up from the Hawk textures and I am really fond of them, I’ll grab some screenies of these when I can.

So, When? Well my goal is to be showing a pretty much beta ready aircraft in July, then pending final bug testing I am hoping to get this bird on the road to download over the back end of the summer. Yes I know it’s a little late, but I think you will all be blown away with the level of detail and work that has been done on P-40.

We also have quite a few sessions booked with Real P-40F pilots to test the sim prior to release to ensure the best experience for you possible. If they say it’s good then it must be good

More info in the build up to Legends in July

Bearcat

The model is pretty much finished, sadly our modeller for the Bearcat was severely ill during the backend of 2014 which has delayed us abit. I have always said that VEAO is a family unit and when one of our guys is unwell I made the decision that we would not take his work away from him and we would allow him to complete it. James, you know we are there for you mate.

Other than this, the ASM and EFM prelims are well progressed including the engine being programmed already, I expect major progress to be made on this during July and August.

Vampire

The External model is complete and cockpit is almost done, once again the systems have been done in their basic form and the EFM is on its way as well. We are optimising the model abit as the external was a little poly hungry so it’s having a slight rework to improve performance as it was a little fps hungry. This should be done in the next couple of weeks, then it’s off to the texture artists to work on. Again I am expecting serious visible progress to be made on this over the wind down from the summer. But it is progressing well.

Meteor

Model is finished and in sim, purring nicely as anyone who saw our showcase will attest to. Its ahead of Vampire in terms or working on ASM and EFM and its gone into the paint shop for work. More details on Meteor will come out after Legends, but I am expecting this to be making some kind of appearance before the end of the year.

Prelim work on all the major systems has been done, as has the basic EFM handling, we need to arrange to get it in front of a couple of real Meteor pilots that I know and we will be able to give more feedback then as to how much work we have to do to fix any issues they find with it. We are also looking into the GGS gun sight as well, which is proving an interesting challenge!

Spitfire XIV

Work has been delayed by the P-40F running late, but I am not going to say too much about this bird other than if you can come to Legends in July I recommend it

It won’t be released at Legends but you will know/see more for sure.

Wildcat

Well this one is something that we are working on but we haven’t officially announced it yet, I am adding it here as someone is bound to ask about it, Model is finished, internally and externally, ASM and EFM are coming along well, including the Shotgun Start! But no news on release plans or announcements yet, Sorry!

Buchon

We have had a few issues with some specs for the aircraft, Different builds, engines, time periods, real aircraft being hybrids and cross breeds over the years. We have a better set of plans and references now, Expect more new on Buchon September-October time.

So What else have we been doing? Well other than the shows at Duxford we have also been working hard with the RAF for Typhoon, obtaining references and tech documents for that, Hawk bug fixing has taken up a fair chunk of time as well as doing private demos for non public releases and prepping for P-40F release. We are all working very hard, I do ask people to treat the guys with respect, we are all doing this as a side job to our day jobs. No one in VEAO is doing this full time work yet.

I will update you guys again with more news as/when I have some to share.

All the best

Pman

VEAO cancel all helipocters develop projects and plans on DCS: World (NH-90 / Westland Lynx / Westland Wessex / Boeing CH-47 Chinook / Aerospatial Puma).

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?...postcount=1116
Quote:
Hey Guys,

Well it didn’t take you long to spot that now did it!

Yeah I am sorry to confirm that for the time being at least we have pulled all our rotary projects including NH-90.

I completed an annual review recently on the progress of the modules in development along with all the process’ that we are going through for them. As part of that I have to assess viability for each project, when we came out with our roadmap we have envisioned that we would recruit at least 3 new programmers, in reality we only got 1 on top of the 2 we had already. In short it’s just too much work and without extra programmers helo’s were just something that was in the long grass. Compounded by the fact that we do not have any work outside of DCS that encompasses helo’s it made them the category that was the one to go.

That is not saying that they won’t come back at some point in time, just that it is not right now and that it won’t be in the next 3-4 years which is what this roadmap is primarily focused on.

For the time being we are concentrating on what we are becoming experts on, Warbirds, Early Jets and of course Typhoon!

Thanks for your understanding

Hi Guys

Something Chris and I have been reviewing recently is our communication policy with the community and forums at large. To be quite honest with you it can be very depressing and demoralising for everyone involved.

Hundreds of hours, Thousands of messages are exchanged monthly in working on these projects for you, the general populous, and to be frank we get a lot of hate and grumbling about incomplete or WIP shots of things that are going on in the background. It has already cost us 2 development members who quite frankly just don’t want to work on DCS or be in the community any longer.

This cannot continue.

As such effectively immediately we will not be releasing any renders or WIP of any of our projects going forwards until they are in test with ED and pending pre-sale and then release.

Chris and I will maintain our presence on the forums and answer questions as/when we have time or the need but aside from that we will not be communicating any progress on our projects until they near completion.

We are both sorry that it has come to this but we just cannot continue as we are.

Regards

Pman
