Default Help with installing mods

Hello

I've decided to install some mods to SH4, I have looked on YouTube and all over the forum for a suitable `how to` guide but didn't work when I tried to follow the steps.
I'm next to useless when it comes to computers and installing, if someone could please provide a step by step guide to installing mods onto SH4, it would be very much appreciated. Please treat as though I'm complete beginner to computers.
I currently have a Windows 8, and that's all I know at the minute.

Thank you so much

Jazzy

Well, the first thing you need is something called the JSGME (Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler). You can find it here. Please be aware that most mods nowadays are geared towards v1.5 of SH4. This happens to be the latest version BTW. You'll find directions on how to use the JSGME on the linked page.

Try here.

There's a Youtube install guide a little lower on the page.

Hi again
I've watched the video, and have seemed to get the TM mod into the activated list and activated, yet nothing is happening, there's no changes to the game at all.
Sorry for being a pain in the neck subron

This is usually the result of a double folder problem.

Disable the mod, and check the folder structure. Make sure there is not an extra folder. The structure should look like this:
MyGames\SilentHunter4\MODS\XYZMod\Data....

Not

MyGames\SilentHunter4\Mods\XYZMod\XYZMod\Data....

This occurs when mods are unzipped in different ways, often an extra folder is created. You should probably check all your mods for this.
