Default SH4 Radio

Hey all. I'm looking for a radio mod for the ingame radio. Is there a mod that plays WW2 era radio programs and music for that radio?

Default 2016 version of RadioStationManager?

I've downloaded the RadioStationManager or RSM1.2 and it comes out as a video file. Doesn't pop up in the JSGME when I place it in the MODS folder. Perhaps I'm not installing it correctly.

Is there a 2016 version? All the files about the Radio stations are 10 years old on the forums. It's like researching some ancient secret knowledge.

Radio stations for SH4 are really strange. They don't allow you to hook into your existing music library or grab from online. You must duplicate the songs you want to hear into a special wasted space directory. Yuk. Not workable.

Much better to run Spotify or another music player in the background. I use Clementine, which I can control with my cell phone while I play SH4.

MUCH better than anything possible within the game. I've completely junked the SH4 radio and now it holds charts down in rough seas.

For me, the radio is like the deck gun... excess weight that needs to be jettisoned... 'Course, ya never know when you might need one of the tubes for the sonar station... hmmmmm....

Use the Gramophone. I have music (of course), old period radio shows etc in mine.

Happy Hunting!

Same deal with the gramophone as the radio. It needs files in places of its own and won't access your music library. Makes it very limited. I just use Spotify or Clementine and get the benefit of my entire music library at will instead of what pitifully limited resources the gramophone has access to.

OF course, on a real sub they would have even less resources.

My patrols only last about 3 months, and there is only so much time for entertainment material needed in 3 months.... I also swap out material in the gramophone folder between patrols if I want.

To each his own. Like you, I was just offering another alternative to the buggy SH4 radio.

Happy Hunting!

Default Gramophone

How do you use the gramophone. Do you add to the folder or do you need to create a new folder?

It is in \Data\Sound\Gramophone\ In this folder you can add your *.mp3, *wav files etc.

In-Game on your HUD menu on one of the tabs you will find the icon to turn the gramophone on.

Happy Hunting!
