Aww, geez, ya didn't have to dance to celebrate... ...and, word of advice, stop payment on the Weight Watcher's membership; I don't think it's working... Quote:
Not a worry in my case: local fire regulations prohibit unusually large fire sources... Well, that's easy for you to say... Since you choose to express it that way, does it mean you think I'm 'Finnish'-ed?... Quote:
Birth Certificate? Nah, I'm too busy working towards that Death Certificate and I'm almost there... ...unless, of course I decide to embrace my deity status and opt for immortality... Many thanks to all of you for your posts. Yesterday, I was thinking back to fifty years ago when I turned 18. On my 18th birthday, I couldn't vote and, in the State of California in 1968, I wasn't officially an adult; girls in CA were adults at 18, but boys weren't legal adults until they reached 21; what this meant was I couldn't sign contracts, get married without parental consent, consent to medical procedures on my own, and a number of other things kids who turn 18 today take for granted. I also couldn't buy or drink alcohol legally, either. However, I was required to register for the draft at 18 and did so on my 18th birthday. Guys are still required to register today, but, back in 1968, it had a whole lot of implications kids don't even have to think about today... I was also thinking about how next June, 2019, will mark 50 Years since I graduated high school. Its kind of funny; as one ages through the years, our past starts out as being seen in terms of years ("oh, that was a few years back"), then we see in in terms of decades ("oh, I remember that from the 60s, 70s, etc."), then we get to the point where our past starts to be measured in fractions of centuries ("oh, that was half a century ago"). I rather doubt I will get to the point where the past will be measured in a whole century. Now, I'm just living with a curiosity about what the remaining time will be like; it may not be much, but its a good reason to wake up everyday... Thanks again for the wishes and I wish the best for you all... <O>

Oh no. You're not that old. But it couldt be useful to know some finnish even in Hollywood. You might run in some (Good looking)finnish descendant actress at right time and be able to impress her. She may blow you a kiss. Think about that! Umm. Unfortunately Maila Nurmi is not with us any more, but Pamela A is. Does she live around there?

Oh, I passed old some time back; now I'm just trying to see how many of my original parts will be with me when I go... When I saw the name Maila Nurmi, it sparked a bit of recognition, but I couldn't place the name; looked her up and found I knew her as Vampira, the prototype for Elvira and Morticia Addams, among others... As for Pamela Anderson, I wasn't aware she was of Finnish descent. And, I have seen her here in Hollywood and Beverly Hills over the years; she wasn't as glamorous as would be expected, in person; used to see her quite often on the Sunset Strip, hanging around the rock clubs at the west end... When I looked up Nurmi, I found this link that might interest you; famous Finnish-Americans in all fields: List of Finnish Americans -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Finnish_Americans <O>
