Default OPACITY CHANNEL

Hi All folks!
One question about the opacity channel: I'm not able to export it into .j3d.
I mean, I set it inside a dedicated material that I apply to the polygons I need in the model I am texturing. To do this I first create 2 different maps: 1 black-and-white for the opacity channel (where black areas are for transparent areas) and 1 coloured for the diffuse channel. I apply the material with both the maps loaded in the rspective channels, save the file to .3ds, load it in 3ds max and export to .j3d. While the model and the other materials (the ones with only diffuse channel set) are successfully exported this doesn't happen for the maps loaded into the opacity maps.
I made 2 attempts for the material with opacity channel:
1) with 2 maps, 1 for the diffuse channel, 1 for the opacity channel; result: the .j3d plugin exports the material with only the diffuse channel map;
2) with 1 map, that for the opacity channel; result: again the .j3d plugin fails to export the map but it also doesn't export the whole material that I set to contain it.

I would be happy to receive all your advice or suggestions.

Thank you in advance.
