I saw it done many years ago on a model of the HMS Roberts monitor...the system had a recorded gunfire tape attached as well as a smoke machine and was very effective indeed...a real crowd pleaser/puller

I've also seen the models that have the Co2 powered BB cannons.

The kind that people use to wargame with. Now that would be awesome though hard to aim...and probably not allowed in public.

Honestly, the UK has some of the most awesome shops for model boat building and RC.
