She became a trial boat and was fitted with an experimental tower later used on the XXI.

Aye, it's the ARA Santa Fe, formerly USS Catfish, Balao-class, Guppy2 conversion. Last sub sunk in combat.

USS Hull (DD-945), only destroyer to mount an 8-inch gun. (antennae looks right, and that turret is oversized...yeah, it's the right shape, too.)
