Default How to attack Victor III armed with Shkval?

In a user-made ASW tutorial mission, I have to sink a Victor III

If I launch from far, the Victor outruns the ADCAPs, if I launch any closer than 12nm,, I get nailed by Shkvals.

While I don't get sunk from the Shkvals, they always damages the tubes, preventing me from wire guiding them onto the Victor when it takes evasive maneuvers.

There is also an issue with the layer @ 1000 ft. The victor smartly goes beneath the layer to avoid the ADCAPs. I read in the "red book" on how to change depths of the torpedoes, but it doesn't seem to work.

Is there a way to reset the depth of the ADCAPs after they've been launched?

Victor III speed is 32kts and ADCAP speed is 55 kts - its enough for attack form 8-12 nm
Shkval maximum range is around 6 nmi
Your safe distance is 7-10 nmi

You should read first manual instead Red/Blue book
Just set FLOOR to maximum and depth under layer

If you use RA mod, ADCAPs can change depth of searching even after launching - read about is in weapon manual pdf.
Its:
ENABLE-PREENABLE-ENABLE
procedure.

My problem when launch from 7+ nmi ends up being that during the Victor's evasive manuvers, he goes over and under the layer sporadically, which makes me lose him on sonar constantly, which forces me to follow him through the layer, only to discover he popped back onto the other side.

I have to double back the torpedos constantly or split them up along the bearing to target, but if I lose contact with the Victor for long enough, he can get away enough to outrun the torpedoes.

Maybe it's an issue of practice, but I'll keep trying to see if I can improve wire-guiding to target.

1) Engage with 2 torpedoes:
-first above layer
-second under layer

2) For active ADCAP set speed 50kts (not 55kts)
-when torpedo speeds up to 55kts - it means target aquired (sub or decoy)
-mark this point on map (enter)
-watch your torpedo: if begins turning circle it means target is decoy. in that case set preenable and turn torpedo to previous course (or suspected sub direction).
-enable torpedo again

3) When one of yours torpedoes find something, turn second one to this direction but not to the same point - try to predict enemy sub course
