Default Kapitan's Library and collections

Having some what of a tidy up yesterday and decided to pull out all of my books and other items for a clean, they say its only when you move you realize how much stuff you have well i did forget how much stuff i had.

I didn't count how many books i have but there is quite a few as you can see and all fit nicely even though they are double stacked into an Ikea shelf set, and yes just like a library they are all separated into sections.

Section one holds world war I & II
Section two holds Soviet and Russian navy only
Section three holds Submarine books only
Section four holds Miscellaneous mainly naval books but others in there too

This is a picture of them all and its taken on my standard size double bed some books you may not see because they are under others as i was running out of space.

On my wall i also have a large map with highlighted places that i have traveled to over the years which totals 53 countries so far out of the UN recognized 195 (two of which are not member states Palestine and Holy See the Vatican).

As you guessed i have some way to go yet before i can say i have done it all truth be told i have no intention in going to every country on this planet some just do not interest me at all mainly the African countries and South America, on my hit list are: Australia, New Zealand, India and North Korea.

Another side to my collections are Fridge magnets however i have too many to go on my fridge and my little sister keeps trying to destroy them (she is just over 1 years old) so for safety sake i have two magnetic boards which have been plastered with them on my wall, also on there is a flag of the Soviet navy and a banner pennant of the same flag another banner for the Russian submarine veterans club plus the badge from the club.

To the side is the calendar from the submarine veterans club but above is something quite unique for me, i have two canvases one of me laying in the torpedo tube of the Foxtrot class submarine B-143 in Zeebrugge Belgium, the second canvas is of me straddling the main 5 inch gun of the German Destroyer Molders in Wilhelmshaven Germany, the smaller picture is on the same ship but taken from the Bridge, the poster is my official invite to the Submarine veterans club birthday celebration.

Im not a big model fan as i don't have the patience to build them nor do i have the time either, but some of the ones over the years i have gathered and yes there are very few i have a small waterline model of an Oberon that's from Canada and is Ojibwa, the bigger submarine is the French submarine Flore, the sailing ship with the funnel is the RRS Discovery 1901 which is in Dundee Scotland, im not sure what the other smaller one is.
I have also a collection of mugs from U995 Flore and Le Redoubtable as well as a few figurines

I also have a hat collection going on some of the hats are from vessels I have been on in a professional capacity such as the USS Tucson SSN770 the German Frigate Emden F210 Danish frigate Niels Juel F354 and the USS Jarret FFG 33, The USS Florida SSBN 728 (now SSGN 728) was from a former crew member who served on board her and gave me the hat.

The others are naturally of museums and of course my very own subsim.com hat.

On the Emden hat you can clearly see I also have quite a few badges these were from the U995 and U534 museums mainly but I also have a badge from the HMCS Haida as well.

So that is my collection id like to know whats in your collections and your opinions on how I can improve mine.

I am impressed Blair

Sadly, reading this post reminds me why I try never to go up into the loft where the overflow from the man cave is suitably boxed

Could well be wrong but the last one I can remember is the one I organised here in the UK back in 2014 (York).

As I said though, I could well be wrong.

If there is sufficient interest and someone prepared to organise an itinerary (by no means an easy task) then I don't see why not.

My only pre-condition would be a visit to HMS Belfast.
