Default Space Battleship Yamato

Alright, bear with me here as this is a random thought that popped up in my head. But has anyone ever considered making/already made the Space Battleship Yamato? At it's minimum it would just be a Yamato retexture.

Like I said,just a random thought.

I'm no modder but I'm a huge fan of both the original Japanese series and the American adaptation Star Blazers. I've often wondered if it'd be possible to mod a Space Battleship Yamato. Sail right into Tokyo Bay and let 'em have it with the Wave Motion Gun.

Um, I suspect that if you commanded Space Battleship Yamato you'd be sailing into Pearl Harbor, San Francisco and then descending on Washington D.C.

Seems I'm not as Crazy as I first thought.

Technically, there could be a version for both sides, that way everyone's happy!

For anyone interested, here's a comparison pic I found

Of Course the Second Bridge under the Keel would HAVE to be removed for some obvious reasons.

EDIT: Also found a pretty good schematic.Maybe make the Wings Extendable with "Shift+X"?

the great thing about this game is the never ending modability of it

do what you like and enjoy the fun of doing it and there are always others who will enjoy it too after you upload it to share with us

modding is fun and 90% of it IS easy if you just try it and the other 10% takes a little time and study but its often easier to do things yourself then waiting on others who never completely share "your" vision of how you would like it to turn out.

there are dozens of modders on this site who will take the time to teach you and help you every step of the way and in the end you will have learned very important modding lessons so you can do so many other things you havent even thought of yet because you didnt even know you "could" do this or that

just start a thread asking "how do I completely retexture a ship" and you WILL get the answers you need to learn how to do it, dont ask something like "how do i create this mod?" because something like that is often just too hard to answer a question like that without asking a hundred more questions.

instead ask "how do i create a new battleship?" or "how do i add bigger guns to a ship?"

we can help you step by step so break your questions down into simple stages to get where you need to get

good luck with it

Is that schematic from Microsoft Freelancer? There is a mod community, WTS-World CCN that has a "Space Yamato" and that looks like it.

What if the ship would sail on it's side.. then it could use both bridges...

Char, I'm just as unaware about texture modding this game as you, if not more, what if we team up?

Long time ago I had some program that allowed changing the normal game files so I had supersonic submarines with nuclear torpedos and deck guns.. Sounds like a great way to start with the battleship eh?

By the way, would someone mention the name of the program that is used for the file modding, I've lost it on my comp and right now I have no idea what it was called.. Silent editor or something?

Skywas S3D mate, and good luck. And why not just keep the bottom bridge as a fun camera point to see under water when It's shallow??

Thankies! I doubt that I'll ever manage to create a yamato but at least I can mod my submarine to be equal to it in surface combat

Perhaps we could start here:

http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPrevie....cfm/ID/477584

or here:

http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Sp..._Yamato;114523

The first one is apparently public domain and royalty free. I'm sure the author of the second could be contacted to request permission to use his model.

I hope this could be done.

Tigershark

Reading further, the author of the second model listed says in his readme that the model can be used or converted any way desired as long as he's given credit.
