Default RSRD and Midway Level of Detail

Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this question has been asked many times before, but does anyone have an issue with the level of detail on Midway being much less after installing RSRD?

I am trying to join the Battle of Midway and would love to utilize the realism that is in RSRD, however when I install it, I notice that there is much less detail on Midway Island. There are just a few sparse buildings on the island, but when I uninstall it with JSGME, the level of detail is much higher - Major runways, a highly detailed port, tanks, etc. In other words, it looks much more realistic. I am running the following mods, but I noticed that the detail is much lower only when I install RSRD.

RFB_2.0
RFB_2.0_Patch_23April2010
RSRD_RFB_V575
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Hydrophone Line Extended

If it comes down to a choice of having a realistic looking island versus a realistic campaign - I'll the the latter any day. I'd just love to have the best of both worlds!

I won't even run the RSRD Mod any more... It CLAIMS to adjust the historical shipping, but doesn't mention that it also changes all sorts of other game items.

I originally combined the RSRDC Mod with TMO and then it was pointed out to me that RSRDC changes so much other game items that you would not even be getting the benefit of what TMO was designed to do. I did some file compares with various files within the RSRDC Mod and found that to be true.

Doesn't surprise me at all that RSRDC also changes the Midway layout...

My advice... Dump the RSRDC mod and don't look back.

edit> Besides after hours of actual play using the TMO/RSRDC combination I wasn't at all impressed with the difference between the normal somewhat random shipping of the normal game and the supposed historical shipping of the RSRDC Mod. The game scale is so huge that even using historical shipping, it is mostly random to effect an intercept anyhow.

There is a lot of cross-pollination between RFB and TMO. They even shared a mod development web site to exchange ideas and help each other. I wouldn't be surprised if RFB uses a lot of TMO's really excellent campaign.

You should try playing without RSRDC and see how you like it!
