If your SideWinder stick uses a gameport interface you may have issues
with newer versions of windows. You may also find that your PC no longer
has a game port!

If if is a forcefeedback stick with a gameport/MIDI interface, you will almost
certainly have limited functionality, but it also may be that it works fine for
you. Getting a new soundcard with a MIDI/game port can help errors that
occur when XP/Vista/7 give some on-board MIDI/Game ports too low a
voltage.

If you SideWinder stick has a USB interface, the it will work fine with all
versions of windows. Same for FFB USB sticks.

Sidewinder sticks are still the most durable about. I have never seen
them lose their center, jitter or have any kind of hardware problem aside
from the wires coming out if abused.
Only the gameport sticks can have software problems, but often these can
be overcome.

The MsSwFFB2(USB) sticks sell for more than they did new these days.

And, how do you program the buttons when the software is not compatible with win7 64bit? Newer games will have that built in, but the older ones need the sidewinder software/drivers.

When the game is patched up, new planes are included into patch. If you buy them of ROF website, they will be enabled in the game.
