Default Editing loadouts in SH III

For the life of me I cant figure this out and need some help, please.

In Silent Hunter III I am trying to change the type of torpedoes a certain one of my subs carry. I am fully patched running the lastest version of GWX with SH Comander version 2.7.0.130.

I have edited all of the Basic.cfg files so there all the same yet when I go in game, nothing has changed.

Anyone want to help me figure this out?

Thanks.

Wolfie's TweekPak would probably solve your problems. I found mine at Plissken's FTP site.

You can also manually edit the basic.cfg file.

I do this with a copied version and "make" my own mod to use with JSGME. Keeps me from ruining the file

A little offtopic but still: is there anywhere I could read about historical torpedo loadouts? I have no clue what torpedoes did they take to the seas and how much. Who did decide what torpedoes was given to a sub? The captain or some bigger boss (Dönitz ). Just would want some info about the loadout they had, so I know how will I load my future U-boats as close to historical ofc (ie. I don't believe they had all of their torpedoes TII or type TIII's).

Thanks in advance.

Lawrence Paterson's book on U-564 gives the amount and type of torpedoes they used in their patrol in the Western Atlantic in 1942. 15 G7e's and 2 G7a's. They got a couple of torpedoes from another u-boat, transferred them in the middle of the Atlantic. Only G7a's could be carried in the outside storages. Later during the war the outside storages weren't used anymore as it was suspected that carrying them had caused u-boats' sinkings in depth charge attacks, and the air patrols made it too dangerous to be surfaced for any length of time.

JFO! mod by Rudewarrior has all the known orders about torpedo loadouts given by BdU during the war. Unfortunately U-boat Archive's BdU KTB only has some orders about torpedoes, so not a lot is known about the loadouts. Hopefully someone has more complete knowledge on this.

Here's the ordered loadout for April 1944:
http://www.uboatarchive.net/BDU/BDUKTB30350.htm

Serial Order No. 40.
April 1944 issue.
Equipment with torpedoes.

a) Atlantic:

aft 2 TV

Type VIIC forward 3 TV, 5 T IIIa LUT
(LUT boats) aft 2 TV

Type VIID forward 2 TV, 2 FAT I, 4 T III FAT II
aft 2 TV

Type IX B and C
North Atlantic

aft 2 TV, 2 T III FAT II

Type IXD forward 2 TV, 8 T III FAT II (or T IIIa FAT II)
aft 2 TV, 2 T III FAT II
upper deck 9 FAT I (or T I)

Type XB aft 2 TV, 5 T III (or FAT II)

b) Northern Waters:

Type VIIC forward 3 TV, 5 T III FAT II
aft 2 TV

c) Mediterranean:

I had a look at Schepke's patrol in September 1940. The war diary is over in U-boat archive. The report says the boat launched 10 G7e eels and 2 G7a's.

Also from November 1944

a) Atlantic

Type VIIc ("Lut" boat) forward: 3 T V, 5 T IIIa Lut
aft: 2 T V
Type VIIc (without "Lut") forward: 3 T V 5 T IIIa Fat 2
aft: 2 T V

Type IXc ("Lut" boat) forward: 4 T V 6 T IIIa Lut
aft: 2 T V 2 T IIIa Lut (2 T IIIa Fat II)

Type IXc (without "Lut") forward: 4 T V 6 T IIIa Fat II

Type XXI ("Lut" boat)

Type XXIII ("Lut" boat) 2 T IIIa "Lut"
Type XXIII (without "Lut")2 T IIIa Fat II

b) Northern Waters

Type VIIc a (as Atlantic)
b in winter on special order of C.C. Northern Waters Type VIIc ("Lut" boat)
forward: 3 T V 3 T I Lut, 2 T IIIa Lut
aft: 2 TV

c) Baltic boats operating against the enemy.

As for atlantic boats.

Some additional points
- External storage would carry wet heater torpedoes as electric types required much more frequent checks. Later in the war external storage was removed as reloading was too dangerous and space was used for other purposes.
- Boats were fitted for either FAT or LUT torpedoes, we discussed the mechanical incompatibility here .
- Flak boats would only carry torpedoes in the tubes, no internal reloads.
- Type XXI while on paper could carry 23 torpedoes would only have 20 in practice for maintenance purposes.

Default Anyone know how to get Wolfie's TweekPak work?

Anyone also know how to edit torpedo loadouts if Wolfie's TweekPak doesn't work? Thanks for feedback.

Default Am I missing something?

Each time I start a new patrol, when I'm in the Office, "hovering" near the ceiling , the first thing I do is go to the "UBOAT" desk on the right, open it and select my torpedo loadout. I can pick and choose between all of the types of torpedoes available at the time. The only prohibition I can recall is loading electric fish in the external spare storage tubes. IIRC, that doesn't cost me any renown or have any other drawbacks...certainly seems to be more simple than messing around with ".cfg" files.
