Default Faith, Hope & Charity

A co-production of some of the best machinima movie makers about the three RN Gloster Gladiators, Faith, Hope & Charity, who defended the island of Malta against the Italian airforce during the WWII.

Read about the history behind the movie:

Download the amazing movie (~600mb, runtime ~1hr):

Has to be the best IL2 movie I have ever seen, highly recommended!

Downloaded. I just finished watching the first 'chapter' (to 'and so ended the first sortie'), and I'm very impressed so far.

Edit: Finished the whole thing. I have to say it's one impressive and moving film, which succeeded in conveying emotions. The scenes actually got to me even though you practically never really saw the characters, only their vehicles. I recommend this film to all of you, even though it's a ,6 GB download.

As a side note, did this kind of thing - outdated planes taking on superior enemies - happen often in the war? I know that in 1940, the Norwegians launched four biplanes against a far larger flight of German paratrooper planes, and I can imagine that such engagements were fairly common elsewhere, too. That's quite some courage.

Cool avatar, Dowly.

As for the aircraft, I liked their skins, too. But then again, I liked everything about that movie except that the pages of his photo album turned through the camera, so what can I say...

Just watched it. Very good movie, only few could rival it - and these are much shorter.

Nonsense. I'd love to read long reviews of Faith, Hope and Charity. Though yes, his tone was way too harsh.

Bloody hell. That was absolutely outstanding! Raise my cap to those guys, they made a bloody good film. My heart was in my mouth towards the end there. Shows well just how the war in the Med was neglected, and how well people with their backs against the wall can fight.

I remember reading Ronald Dahls experiences in the RAF in the med, he was over in Crete IIRC, and had to hop from airfield to airfield as the Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht got closer and closer. Must dig that book out again sometime...it was well written. 'Going Solo' it was called I believe.

It wasn't 'Over to You', by any chance? Or was that yet another book?

I think the most touching and powerful scene by far was Johnny's approach and landing after he was wounded.

Heh... I've loaded up Falcon 4.0 Allied Force twice now and fired up a Tactical Eengamgenet where my flight of four MLUs engaged a North Korean package of fifteen Badgers. I then load the movie in the background and time it so that the first sortie of the movie coincides with my engagement with my encountering the Badgers. First time was awesome, as I went into a strafing run just as the pilot of the movie did - I get to fly through a formation of Badgers just as the music went into overdrive (at 11:34 in the movie). Second time I had adjusted the engagement a little to let me meet the Badgers earlier. However, I over-compensated, so that my F-16 fighters came upon the Badgers while they were still on the runway! After strafing them until all my MG ammo was out and deciding to head for home, I heard the pilot in the movie say something like 'let's head home, there's nothing more to destroy here':rotfl:.

Only problem is that I more than once have thought that a radio message in the movie was for me, such as '20+ bandits incoming' - great, I thought, here come the Badgers!

I had been waiting on this ever since I first heard about it over a year ago. Truely a great piece of artwork!
