Auriana,

GWX 2.0 Installation instructions: [Quoted]

1. Create a fresh/brand new installation of GWX patched to version 1.4b
2. Go into your "My Documents" and delete the "SH3" folder you find there. Old Silent Hunter III careers will not be compatible with GWX 2.0
3. Create a new folder on your desktop and label it "GWX 2.0"
4. Download the "GWX2.exe file and all seven .bin files to the folder you just created on your desktop.
5. It is recommended that you burn these files to CD's or a DVD for safe-keeping
6. Double click the GWX2.exe file and follow the directions that appear.

This link is also a sticky, it will help heaps with questions you may have.

no but I think I remember what his subject was on it. He found some unused gauges on the main conning station GUI. One of them controled each engine I think. He was testing some ideas...:hmm:

Checked it out and it's actually what I was looking for. Mainly the 3/6 large slide out dials and a few other changes to the gui. I remember some posts aboout the other guages though. For a moment there I had hopes of control over the dive planes. Oh well, got my dials! I think these to be from "Sim-Feeling" mod.

Default Can't unzip

Hi RacerBoy,
have read about your SH4 mods for SH3 mod before and am thinking about re-installing SH3 with some mods to make it more interesting, namely the task force fest mod and your SH4 for SH3 effects mod.
So i've downloaded JSGME, and your SH4 for SH3 file and put your file in the Mods sub-folder in my SH3 folder, but when i try to unzip it using WinRaR it says

'the archive is either in an unknown format or is damaged'

and won't unzip it.
Please excuse me if i'm doing something obvious wrong but WinRaR usually contains an option to
'extract to the specified folder'
and just unzips this type of file to a folder of the same name as the original, that it creates, which i would then leave in the Mods folder, and enable, having removed the original zip file.

I'm sure i must be doing something really stupid wrong but i've not had this problem with zip files b4.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks in advance if you have any ideas

And while i'm here, can anyone suggest a mod compatible with SH3 and patch 1.4b that will add more ship types, and maybe supply vessels ( oooh deepie joy if i can reload on patrol ) to the game.
Was thinking of GWX but i gather it has some bugs, including one with the ship sinking model which kinda puts me off. Plus i believe GWX is the Yanks V the Japs, or the Japs V the Yanks, so does that mean i'm in a Jap U-boat lol?

And BTW why does my post icon call me a bilge rat lol?

Try this, right click on the zip file and choose from the drop down list "Extract Here". This should exctract the contents in the same folder the zip file is in. I created 2 folders for the exctraction process. One to extract the contents into, and another to place the zip folder after extraction(To store zip files until I accumulate enough to burn to a cd). Then I place the unzipped content into the mods folder, for which I created a Mods folder shortcut(Because I'm lazy). I kind of like to refer this as my Mods Factory so to say. It keeps things organized.

Hi Tuddley,
thanks for replying but i tried the 'extract here' option and got the same 'unknown format or damaged' message.
I'm wondering if the file has been corrupted at the other end?

I read in another post he's disappeared, that post is dated 29-04-08 and titled SH4 effects for GWX 2.1 by, i think, Venatore (tho don't hold me to it).

Anyone tried downoading it lately?
Or perhaps can someone provide a link to a known good file?
As i said i've never had that error message on a zipped file before, WinRaR normally unpacks them no prob.

found it( the post)

It was by asanovic7, so apologies to Venatore.

Um,
how do i say this without looking realy silly ?
I deleted the zip file and re-downloaded it, put the unpacked file into the Mods folder, instead of the main SH3 folder, and unzipped it in there.

It did it no probs, so it's now showing as available in JSGME
Job done

Thanks for the exhaust mods. since the .val files for all submarines have been changed for gwx3, i think the exhaust mods will not be compatible with gwx3. are you planning to make them compatible?

I'm using the Smoke + water stream mod which i intergrated with OLC's uber mos 2.4.3 or whatever and it works fine! along with my altered Phil Thomsens Water Mod containing a darkened horizon and a redish/orange sunset on the water!

see PT's water mod post for a link..

ok.
