My wife bought one of those garden gnomes once. I was using the weed whacker one day when I got a little too close and took his face right off.

That was years ago, but of course I still hear about it every now and then.

its the place plants come die.

every spring my wife pours her soul into making the garden look as beautiful as can be, she weeds it, puts down new mulch and new decorations, plants lovely flowers.

within a week it is a wasteland... she isnt known for her green thumb lol

Haha! My wife is also quite the plant assassin. Try getting her a "Pothos". It's nearly impossible to kill. I know. My wife has tried ... and failed.

That's really funny, guys, because my wife also brings all these plants home... along with big fancy glazed pots to put them in... then she plants them and forgets all about them. If I don't water them they die... so most of them die.

I will often come across a fancy pot out there with a dead twig in it, and to the twig is attached a price ticket (she never bothers to take these off) and a label with a picture of a beautiful plant on it.

OUR GARDEN IS MUCH THE SAME BUT WE HAVE ALL THE POTS AND RATHER LARGE VEGGIES PLANTER BOXES ON TIMED 1/4 '' BLACK PLASTIC IRRIGATION TO ALL THE POTTED PLANTS, PATIO ROSE STANDS ETC ARE EACH WATERED THUSLY. THE WHOLE YARD IS THUS IRRIGATED SEPARATLY FROM THE LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEM. ITS CHEAP AND ONCE DONE THE WATERING/DEAD PLANT ISSUE IS RESOLVED. TRIMMING WITH HAND SHEARS OR A WEED WHACKER IS A BIT DICEY ; I'VE CUT A FEW OF THE PLASTIC LINES FROM TIME TO TIME-NO SWEAT JUST JAM IN A CONNECTER AND REATTACH THE LINE:

You have told us how your love ones have filled your garden with al kind of stuff.

I would love to see some picture, if it's possible.

For me it's a real eye-pleasure to see a (forgot the word)garden.

Not only does my wife have potted plants and statuary in the garden she has broken clay pots turned upside down and stuck under the bushes around the yard.

First time I saw one I asked her what they were for and she said it was a "Toad House" Apparently there is a shortage of housing for amphibians in my back yard that urgently needs to be addressed by scattering shards of pottery everywhere.

^ Don't you just love 'em? If I tell Moira about this then I just know I am going to start finding 'toad houses' everywhere

Default Some photos for Markus

(Even round the flaming dustbin)

That's an old-fashioned hand-pump in picture no.3... I set it up over the tank which collects all the rainwater from the roof

This pump seems to work better than any of those you see in old movies... the water really gushes out with no effort at all

You hang the watering can on the little spur above the spout

I see we are both afflicted with solar light syndrome

I'll take a few snaps when it gets dark.

You ought to see my brother's place: he's got them strung out and planted everywhere. It drives his missus up the wall... every time they go to the garden centre he has to buy more. He bought a load when we went to stay last week... his garden looks like Las Vegas at night

(PS: thanks, Markus)

I went through that phase too!

I'm down to just a few around the yard and along the driveway. I can quit any time I want!
