Yeah, i'm not looking for something fast. Those Shelby Chargers topped at 175 HP.

Fox-Body Mustangs came in 4-cylinder models along with the V8....I believe there may have been V6's too....but those are usually pretty cheap. Only problem is finding one in good condition that isn't a convertible.

I would go with the focus it is the lower cost to own.Better MPG it has better saftey features than an 80's car.

I'd avoid the charger that turbo is more than likely on its last legs and turbocharged engines have shorter life spans an addtional negative they require high octane fuel while a focus will run fine on 87. The Charger was rated @ 20/27 mpg when new so yeah gas guzzler. The specs that I can find list the shelby turbo @ 146hp after 28 years you might get 125hp so in fact a focus will have about the same output or better.

You want for basic transportation the vechile that will be easy to keep running. Also if you get into another accident do you what a less common car or one with an airbag? With an older ride you accept the added risk of older saftey equipment. Not worth the trade off when the driver has less experiance. Not saying you are bad driver but you do lack experiance.

And that's another very good point. Turbo engines don't last that long.

I'm heavily leaning toward the Focus but my options are open. I'll be heading up to the Columbia area in the next two weeks or so....will probably go look at that Blue '01 for sale

There is a '55 Packard for sale outside Springfield$5,000.oo
Almost guaranteed that at 3,000 lbs you would be hard pressed to roll it. Fuel mileage is no hell @ 16 mpg.

The turbine bearings also wear overtime and need replacement. If not replaced they stick & the turbine blows apart. Then you loose a large portion of output.

Eh. Nah.

If I wanted a cheap, POS vehicle....there's certainly no shortage around Southern Missouri.

So they're bringing back the GT350 with the 2016 Mustang

The prototype nearly crashed on the Nurburgring.

Car and Driver says they expect it to be unveiled in the next few weeks.

All four cars paid off! Now it's down to just tyres and oil-changes-upkeep- for the next 200,000 miles on each beast...not so much dreamin' as nightmare avoidance. Nothin' fancy; just good dependable Jap cars-built in America somewhere. But on the Y-chromosome 'eternal-male' frequency...Jaguar F Type 2014: at a livable $69K (base price) with all the dough I save on the Jap cars and not owning my own sailboat! F-TYPE : 5.0 liter 495 horsepower V8 or 5.0 liter 550 horsepower V8. Every one features a Roots-type twin-vortex supercharger, mounted in the "V" of the engine to preserve its compact dimensions. Allready got the driving moccasins for Xmas; now I need a worthy ride!

I will revive one of my old threads to share something absolutely-frickin-insane that was just posted on my local auto enthusiast FB group.

A late 90's Mustang runs an eighth mile 4.11 seconds at 193 MPH (~310 KPH)

Mine is any suv with air conditioning that I can buy off craigslist for $2300, and then put two years or 80,000 miles on. Then either sell or scrap, and get another one. The Durango seems to fit the bill.

310 kph in a drag race is insane in the US?
I know a guy who went that on a Autobahn in a Porsche Panamera. Now that's insane (and should be highly illegal which it unfortunately isn't...).
