Very good news. How does it work ?

On the contrary, I think it is an important problem to take into account. Imagine 2 messages sent from the U-45 in the same week : one is in BF4255, and the other is AF5547....

What's that ?

The records are in a database, there is a serial primary key, you only load messages that have appear after your last downloaded.

If you are using the toolkit for more than just immersion, you will be in a flotilla - otherwise Uboat numbers cannot be enforced (although they could be massaged in-database before issuance).

Short-form messages:

This is a good idea for the Kurzsignale. This will add more realism ! ... You just have to find all the codebooks !

"The Kurzsignalheft contained tables that converted sentences into four-letter groups. All kinds of expressions in many different topics were listed. Logistic matters such as refueling and rendez-vous with supply ships, positions and grid lists, names of harbors, countries, weapons, weather conditions, enemy positions and ships, date and time tables. All possible situations and topics were listed."

And then, create a program to translate these 4 letters into the correct sentence,
and conversely.

Yes, it struck me that one could also have the table with columns for languages (French, Germand, Italian, English) - so, for example, I might compose:

6754 3323 8718 9191 (or whatever) meaning:

"Left kiel will arrive tonight" (for me, in English)

but decoded (excuse my bad italian!) as

Sono partito di kiel arrivero' stasera .... etc.

I've found this video on Youtube : the radio operator is sending a short signal :

Did you know it ? Twenty seconds to send the message... that's very... short !

I did a better one, it lasts 16 seconds and the message is much clearer.

At the beginning, you can hear the famous beta beta (BT BT).

If you want, I could make the french translation.

I will take you up on that later, once I have it working. At the moment I am simplifying the interface to make things less intimidating (I hope!).

I have all tested with success, except the Captain's reports, because I'm not playing a career for yet.

I note http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/673/XyE0BL.jpg I shall perhaps update the message template screen to match the format (as much as I can!)
