Didn't you send me a reproduced WWII news paper back long ago?
I went by Privateer back then.

I got that error "cannot initialise 3D engine" when I first installed LSH.
I have windows 10.
I did get it to run a few times but the widescreen didn't work. I had black borders either side the screen. So I can see how this causes a widescreen issue.
Giving SH3.exe the compatibility "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" fixed it for me.

Thankyou THEBERBSTER,
Getting skwas's Silent Editor running by downloading DirectX 9.0c and Microsoft .NET 2.0 to run it. Those files have helped my SH3 installation as well. Making SH3.exe "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" compatable (which I forgot to do) has done the trick. My installation is running perfect now, no crashes or graphic glitches.
But having the info you gave is always useful.

Welcome back VikingGrandad!

I go back and forth between SH3 and SH5. I'm looking forward to WAC 5.0 when Han gets it ready to release.

Yes, I remember you were Privateer back then

I didn't send you anything though. Maybe it was RJ?

Thanks, HW3!

Another blast from the past!

For you, what is it about SH3 that keeps you playing it, even though you enjoy SH5? Are there important features in SH3 (other than more U-boat types) that SH5 doesn't have?

I can use the type IX sub in SH3 is the main one. I was also in the WaW group till it went belly up last spring. I really like using WB's USAM 69.61.1 mod which scripts in alot of liners and warships on their historical routes at the proper times among other things. I use the TWoS mod in SH5 which seems quite stable for me. I'm still getting used to SH5, and playing it more than SH3 now, the visuals are stunning. I am waiting for WAC 5.0 for SH3 to come out to see what wonders Han has preformed with it.
