They say that out of the 5 midget submarines that Japan built only 4 have been located and surveyed.

Maybe a small update could include hunting one if that is at all possible.
Would be a great thing for us to try as a Pre-Attack mission wouldn't you agree?
The US definately sank one outside the harbor with a shot into the base of the conning tower from a DD, they have located it.

As for the picture they analyzed inside the harbor near battleship row, in my opinion their testing was flawed, and I am not convinced that what they are "seeing" in the photo was a minisub. There are a lot that think it was, and just as many that think it was not. The flaw I feel is the recreation and photo comparison as "Proof".
I won't go into the details, but in my opinion, I am not convinced.

i'm just saying, it we add a few missions that lead up to the attack on pearl that it would be a good start.

yes the photo recreation was how they did the analysis, but you have to admit that there is a strong possibilty due to the fact that one was found after on a beach

Also does any think that adding a recreation of the battle for you to take part in would be good. that way you could either stay in harbour, or attack the main fleet.

The midgets didn't do any photo recon, they were strictly an attack force.

As noted in the readme for my mod, the air attack isn't added because it would slow the game down drastically, and you run the risk of being sunk at the very beginning your career.

As for engaging the Japanese carrier force, that is a possibility in one mission, and in another you can engage it as it returns to port in Japan.

Misunderstood the comment. It was not a photo recon mission.

There was a special on TV where they did a recreation using a photo that was taken by a IJN planes of BB row during the attack. Some believe there is a minisub showing in the photo. So they did a recreation of it in a lake (NOT Pearl harbor) and took photos of it and compared them.

From doing Photography since 1969, I feel there testing which was done using % for distances, their testing was flawed. But that is only my opinion. I am not saying there wasn't one in BB row, only that I am not convinced after seeing their test.

In the photo there is also a stray wake from a running torpedo that doesn't have any splash point indicating that a torpedo plane dropped it's fish.

This also add to what i believe to be a good possibility that there was in fact a sub in the harbour.
I'm not saying your wrong, i just feel like they did a good job making their case which has stood to hold a great deal of empathy on the attack of pearl harbour.

I'd also like you to read this segment:

Researchers such as Burl Burlingame now believe that the following happened:

Five mini-submarines carried piggyback-style by normal submarines approached Pearl Harbour to within a couple of miles of the harbour entrance.

All five mini-subs were released to approach their targets.

Mini-sub Number 1 was sunk by ‘USS Ward’ and did not fire either of its two torpedoes.

Mini-sub Number 2 got into Pearl Harbour and fired its two torpedoes. Both missed their targets, but Number 2 then sunk by two American warships.

Mini-sub Number 3 ran aground and did not fire either of its two torpedoes.

Mini-sub Number 4 was found in 1960 with both its torpedoes still on board. It now stands outside of the Japanese Naval Academy.

However, no one knew what happened to mini-sub Number 5.

I know it doesn't prove much but considering the Fifth is still missing then why not make a mission to hunt that one

I found a couple of minor goofs, one of which ended up being a tweak I decided to do to all the missions. So, here's 4.1.

All missions include a new radio message, and the RSRDC versions include a second message to replace a very important one they removed from their messages.txt. The other change was adding additional objectives to some of the Pearl Harbor based missions.

I should've noted the new stuff instead of just incorporating it into the post and readme, but I thought anyone using the old version would note the differences.

If I happened to be in port on Dec. 7, would I be allowed to man my AA guns and blast away at some japs?

No. The air attack itself is not in the game, although the Jap task force is. I didn't add it myself because I don't really know how to do airstrikes, yet, and because it would cause the game to lag even more than it does now when using Pearl as a base.

Default Possible error in campaign.cfg

I am using Pre Pearl Harbor Career Start for the very first time and am using Version 4.1. I am using the Stock and RFB Pre Pearl Harbor Career Start type mod. Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\Stock and RFB Pre Pearl Harbor Career Start\Data\Campaigns\Campaign folder\campaign.cfg file and am wondering if it is a mistake.

[Section 8]
;FileName=data/Campaigns/Campaign/41a_Jap_Convoys.mis

should it be
FileName=data/Campaigns/Campaign/41a_Jap_Convoys.mis without the ";" at the beginning?

The ";File....." occurs also in sections 9,14,15, 20.......etc.

Thanks for your hard work in making the SH4 more fun.
P.S. Including all your sound mods!!!!
