Nice.

I've come to the conclusion that Albatross > SPAD.

OK, and now again for the idiots (that would be me...) how do I aim in this sim? Is there something like the Il2 shift+F1 trick? I was just doing the training mission where you have to shoot down that German balloon and my gun sights in the SPAD were obscured by the central pillar of the wind shield. I couldn't even see my target when diving at it and the game seems to have a habit of ignoring key commands to move the head when track ir is active. So how do you aim?

If you have TIR, displace your head to line up the sights.

Should be a slider in the hangar to set the 0-distance.

It mostly comes from experience though. Maneuvering the plane while looking about and then trying to line up the sight is not practical. You'll get a feel where the bullets go and just aim like that.

(for example, in the Albatross I use the fat part of the center post in close range lead turns, can see it in the shots above)

I haven't seen a button that lines you up with the gunsight like in IL-2. Usually I aim by whatever is convenient, since the Albatros D.V, for example, doesn't have a real gunsight (Well, there is one you can add onto it, but it's useless).

Oh, and do note that the SPAD has awful visibility. The upper wing and the fuselage just obscure everything (though the cockpit and instruments are pretty fancy). The Albatros is much better in that regard.

---

Warming up for takeoff.

Collision damage caused by Hunter's aircraft during his mad attempt to kill the SPAD I was chasing...

...which escalated after a few minutes to this...

...and, then, inevitably, this.

I'd call your insurance provider. I think you have a good case to sue

Whenever I notice I have a structural wing damage I usually lower my speed to a minimum, head for as low altitude as I possibly can get without snuffing it and get outta the combat!

Also, every aircraft has it advantages-cons. The SPAD's don't have the best visibility no, but they do have the speed and if handled correctly, you'll be able to get out of trouble most of the times. However, as I stated before, the SPAD VII has a very nasty spin, which I've never been able to get out of yet, so be warned!

LoL at Hunter!

Downloaded demo, quick test last night on low settings (only GTS250 ) and it seemed lovely!

I have a GTS 250 as well and can run things on medium and good (or whatever the next higher level was called).

Well I got my first kill now using a reflector sight (collminator or whatever it's called). That's so un WWI like...

I'll nudge some settings next time I go on, needs TIR too, the view out that SPAD was attrocious! It was just a quick test to see if it worked. And it did - even low settings looked good!
