IL2 seems to be the Holy Grail for this type of sim. I did like CFS2 a lot and still think it had some better qualites than IL2. But overall, IL2 would be my choice.

IL-2 generally, bur BoB2 has a MUCH better campaign IMO

If you had asked about World War I or the Korean War It would've probably been easier to answer

Yes, I was curious about BoB. Looks awesome.

I had Pacific Aces and enjoyed it for a while, (the flight model, fluttering, stalls, fantastic!) but frankly found the campaign mode and the looooong flights to targets, and to...nothing!? to be quite a drain....Has this been improved with 1946?

I'm sure you mean Pacific Fighters

Well, the Pacific maps are enormous, so it still takes a lot of flying sometimes (Though with DCG they can be a lot of fun), but most of the Europe/North Africa maps are smaller and require less flying

It doesn't take a lot of flying in Multiplayer usually too

For Online and large list of playable Aircraft - IL2 1946

For Single Player and Campaign play - Wings of Victory : Battle of Britain II

While I have to say IL2 1946, I still like Janes WWII Fighters too.
