Everyone I know who has actually played it has been bitterly disappointed. Without violating their NDAs, they were pretty clear that my fears regarding "carebear" gameplay were well founded.

It's very sad since the ships are so very pretty, and originally they had a vision of realistic age of sail combat. They seem to have abandoned it in favor of luring the WoW crowd.

Same for me. Those I have talked to are no longer playing the beta. The are waiting on that Empire:Total War.
