A related video.

Japan's Last Secret Weapons

45 mins. At about 35 mins in, it was interesting watching what I presume was a Japanese war veteran climbing into a Kaiten torpedo that he was trained to use during the war.

Yes, that was the highlight of the clip. It sure was a scatterbrained presentation, firmly in the toss it against the wall and see if it sticks category. The almost bored narrator gave the whole thing a surreal feal as it chugged along, seeking enough energy to either self-destruct or reach its end. You almost expect him to say, "There is your fourty-five minutes of video pay me and I'm gone." No wonder kids hate history! Certainly shows the uncommon quality of the first video by contrast!

I saw this video about 2 years ago on The History Channel. I liked it so much that I purchased the DVD.

Secret Japanese Aircraft of WWII:

Interestingly, a lot of people think that the Japanese were the first to use a helicopter in combat. What they used was a winged Auto-Gyro. The first (true) helicopter used in combat was the Sikorsky R-4. It went into production in the USA in 1943 and was first used in combat (for a rescue mission in Burma) in April 1944.
