Great. More objective and unbiased appraisals from the forum sage.

The main problem here is simply government subsidies of corn farming which is used to produce high fructose corn syrup, making sweets cheaper that they ought to be, and preventing farmers from switching to more healthier crops...
I have nothing against this ban, but I don't think it will help. I do bellieve in a high suger tax to let the sugar happy people pay for their own hospitalization.

I am often amazed at how much power people are willing to give to the government, just makes me shake my head in shame that this way of thinking has managed to become fairly common in this country. Some blowhard like Bloomberg does not know what is best for every individual , but of course people like him do not care about individuality, it's all about the "collective", people like Bloomberg are dangerous.Cola in moderation does no harm, BUT that is an individual choice, to have a small or large, no government entity should be able to limit that and force a business to no offer the size customers want.Like I said, if the business chose to make 16 oz their largest serving, fine, they can suffer the revenue loss, but the government has no role here, once again a huge overreach from government.I have enjoyed my visits to NYC but their nanny state there is astounding, all the cameras etc in the name of "security" and of course the sheeple mostly play along.Really hope Bloomberg never runs for the Presidency, with all his money he would prob have a shot, what a dangerous A hole of a President he would be, most likely more dangerous than the one we have now.

I would have chosen another way. Stamp a 500% tax on top of the bottle if it contains more than a minimum of refined sugar. Helps public finances for some time. Makes people hesitent. And as somebody mentioned, subsidies. Stop subsidizing crop for sirup production. Ach was, stop subsidies alltogether.

Yeah...keep people on diet through taxes.
I would adjust the prices according to daily consumption of calories needed for human body and nutrition values. ![]() Every body would be thin and happy like in NK..... want to get fat then sell your house. Problem solved.

Maybe he has a stake in a soft drink company - make people buy two drinks where previously they'd buy one. I'm guessing that the larger one is by volume comparatively cheaper so more income.
Maybe it's a pollution thing, if I bought a bucket of soda and couldn't finish it then it'd be poured down the nearest drain or sink, in your sewers - supersizing your rats. Or giving them diabetes.

Sell it by the pitcher, half 32 oz, full 64 oz, and at fast food they can give us a cup and have the soda fountain as self serve where you can get as much as you want. I am so glad that I left New York State, New York is the posterchild of what's wrong with our government. You do know what's coming next, they are going to tell you how much beer you can have.

They do already have you never seen someone turned away from a bar for being too drunk?I have hell I got barred along with a buddy from entering a bar in Kaiserslautern Germany once because we we where too drunk.I am sure the fact the we walked down the street more in the manner of crabs than humans had something to do with man out front saying "Nien".
Too bad that you live in Florida where all the New Yorkers move to and bring their nanny laws with them.

Okay the other ones i could believe but....
oh also...i say good on the large soda ban. It's probably one of the biggest reasons we're fat. Why? not because people choose to drink a giant sized soda with all it's calories; it's because they don't know it has 800 calories worth of corn syrup in it.
