Default The Last Ship

Has anybody read The Last Ship ?

The story sounds unique and interesting but a couple of readers claim the book would be 'dull' and be 'poorly written'...so would be interested of further opinions here, since some reviewers@amazon might not be interested in naval stuff.

A couple of the negative reviews were quite specific about writing style, and since I don't read many novels these days anyway I won't be bothering. Funny, because I remember reading the author's Don't Go Near The Water as a boy, and finding it quite entertaining. Made a good movie with Glenn Ford, too.
