A GWX question

With all these advancements in the game, I'll never get through a Campain. I had to start over from Vanilla with GWX. Of course I could never go back to Vanilla. I just want to play through one. The thing as I have said about Commander that has held me off, is the limited Career time. Not that I want to be UNREALISTIC,... I just don't want the game to end. But I would like to make it past 1941, which is about as far as I ever get before I have to restart it due to an improvement. I do LOVE all the MOD people and their DEVOTION and and lack of SELFISHNESS.

What MAKES COMMANDER so GREAT????? I mean I was already BLOWN away by GWX. THANK U.
