Default 10 things I learned on my trip to Texas

I recently completed my 5th naval vacation, this time, to see the USS Texas and the USS Cavalla; This is what I learned:

1. Despite what I had "heard" crime is not a problem in Houston (see old post), but the weather is.
2. Texans are warm fuzzies. (aka see any member of ZZ Top) [note: this is not zed zed Top]
3. Do not play in flood water, it has fire ants and reptiles.
4. Drebbel is a hooligan. I re-enacted the Drebbel Incident.
5. The Cavalla's dive alarm is really freekin' loud.:p The Cavalla is still water-tight. (see weather report for June 19th)
6. If Drebbel and I were to ever meet, chaos would insue.:hmm:
7. I need to meet Drebbel.
8. Even though the USS Texas was (is) totally cool. It is a total death trap. (See USS Oklahoma or Arizona).
9. Texas has the dumbest McDonalds drive up workers.
10. Neal's SUV has a periscope, torpedo tubes, and can dive to 450 feet. (actual depth is classified. )

Wow, I feel like I was there! Sounds like a fun trip; maybe I should apply for that job in Austin.

Some things you learn while living in Texas:

1. Mesquite trees are practically invulnerable.

2. Houston will never cease in it's effort to consume nearby counties.

3. The Woodlands riverwalk project will become the largest mesquito breeding ground in the state.

4. The speed limit is not 55. Try 75.

5. The Houston light rail has a vendetta aginst cars. (102+ cars / 2 fatalties)

6. The Houston city council is manned by a bunch of idiots. (hence the light rail)

7. The Texas legislature will never have enough money.

8. There are buildings in Dallas with Fort Worth zipcodes.

9. Austin is the capital?

10. Beware of dry counties.

:rotfl: Jeremy Clarkson wanted to put two of those mosnter power boat engines on the back of that Toyota Hilux 4x4. Imagine how quickly it would have travelled then and imagine also how quickly it would have filled up with water and sunk.

Neal's SUV was recently depth charged and brought to the surface in enemy territory.
