I'm running TMO 2.5 with RSRD v5xx.x and just noticed on my map that Firth of Clyde has an anchor on it making it a dockable base. Seems counter productive to me to make an Atlantic base dockable when in the Pacific theatre. Are there some missions that take place in the Atlantic that I am not yet aware of?

I think in FOTRS you can operate some in the alantic theater, but I dont know why its there otherwise.

In TMO I believe you can start a career out of the UK, I think you can transfer there as well.

its not part of TMO, its part of RSRD....their is an option when u start a career to have a new construction start from that port....dunno the purpose but i assume it has some historical significance. I started there and my first mission was to drive all the way to the damn pacific...i passed on that
