This one needs to be brought out of the obscurity of 'bit of news' and thrust into the spotlight. So:
Quote:
So what is it? It's an assassination game (yes that's a genre now) set in an alternate-history Metropolis. It was designed by Viktor Antonov, who did City 17 from Half Life 2, so the styling will be familiar to a lot of gamers. One more peculiar aspect of this universe is that it's driven by whale oil, rather than electricity. Now throw in stealth and supernatural powers and you start to form a picture of what the game is like. The more I see and hear about it, the more impressed I get. It's like some kind of mash-up of Assassins Creed and Hitman in an appealing setting with 1st-person melee combat and superpowers. Give the other stuff on RPS a read and you'll be pretty much up to speed. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/dishonored/

Did I mention Bethesda is publishing? Good guys those, they're really giving devs who want to do something new a chance.

Looks good! Viewing those pictures first thoughts were of Half Life 2. Then I read it was design by the same guy who did City17. An alternate-history Metropolis. <--Thats sealed it for me. Will look out for this one.

Along with XCOM, RPS has really been covering this one very actively. Lots of good stuff, from videos to interviews: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/tag/dishonored/

Blame your retailers, over here DVD's and Games are released on Tuesday, Friday is saved for Theatrical Releases. This makes up for the games you get before us . I only have 34 hours left to go(assuming my local store does a midnight release).
