i´m not sure if it will improve fps ...
Remove ... in misc folder: impurity.dds > floating placton turbulence.dds> water distortion in external camera In library: undersea.dat vegetation-kit.dat Note- it´s important remove the files or moving to another directory outside sh4 folder

for older or slower computers, anything that removes "generated" items in the game will allow it to run better and faster with better fps.
the main thing i noticed that greatly reduced fps is the little view window that shows events like torp hits and sinking ships. while it is nice it pretty much stops me from doing anything untill i turn it off or it finishes.

The rocks and plants that populate the ocean floor are very low-poly objects. Deleting them is not going to make any noticeable difference in peformance on slower computers. If they do then you have a really old and decrepit system. :p

i suspect about ships textures as the main hit for framerates in "old" computers.
i have very good framerates in open seas, but limited in huge task forces.
