Question Air Raid or Bug??

I made the mistake of thinking I could refit at Darwin-got there and realized I couldn't-but it was getting late and I wanted to go to sleep-so I navigated into the harbor and "docked" in one of the empty berths-next to an Aussie ship.

Came to a nice stop, and saved game.

Next day when I loaded game-as I was about to depart the slip-I hear a siren and Ships around me all start exploding!

I couldn't see or hear any aircraft though-it seemed like they were all just exploding and sinking spontaneusly.....went to periscope depth and got the heck outta there!

Do you think that was a scripted air raid? or just some kind of start up in port bug?

i think when you load the game ships sometimes spawn on land or on the docks and explode.
when sailing into an enemy port occasionally ships are already burning because of this.

I made the same mistake as you, PULSEOX. I was coming into Darwin to refuel early one morning when all of a sudden at least two waves of ten aircraft each came flying over Darwin pounding everything in the bay. It was pretty exciting until I realized I couldn't refuel here and did not have enough to get me back to Freemantle...

Question: Did the Japs bomb Darwin in WWII? I was under the impression that their air cover did not extend that far.

Carriers ? Its a simulation not a historical re-enactment.

Anyhow at what time of the war did this happen ?

The Japanese did indeed manage to attack Darwin during the war.

We may have suffered some raids, but in the words of Australian band The Hoodoo Gurus: "Tojo Never made it to Darwin..."

I now can understand why the 'lurkers' or 'stowawayes' far outnumber the captains in port at any given time. You ask a simple question as I did above and the smartasses just can't contain themselves - even to a moderator

Thanks to CptWilkins who has the maturity to impart knowledge which I was unaware of.
