Question about qualifications...

When you recive the chance to hand out special qualifications to crew members, what are the first ones you pick to hand out?

I was thinking the watchman qulifiaction, because then you could use less people on the bridge and have more regular seamen to work in the engiene rooms or relieve other tired crew members.

Or is there a better ability I should pick first?

I use the Rub crew config models which do not come with qualified radiomen, so I give out the Radioman qual first.

Then maybe a few more torpedomen, machinests and that's about it. Any new officer must have a torpedoman qual (this is easy to obtain - if you don't get one with said qual when you first click on officers, just go back to awards and reclick the crew and you get new crew with new quals).

Ears and Eyes first.

Lately I have limited myself to one rating per compartment. Beyond that level, I think I am going to start dismissing whoever gets the qualification - sort of a going away present if you will.

i got a watchman officer and i filled out the quals for the officers first. each of my officers have multiple tasks aka, helmsman, medic, machinst, or torpedoman, watchman and repair. so i could move them around and still get maximum work. then i got my petty officers in machinest, torpedoman, and filled out repair last. it works pretty well for non-DID games. note: this was when i got my VIIB, and I have 5 officers, I odn't think you can really follow the same formula with 3 officers.

With me it's the Watch officer first he's qualified in flak and gunnery and torpedo then come the NCO's then the other officers.

Yes, one good piece of advice posted above: regardless of what qual you give, give them highest rank down to lowest. They have more effect in compartments that way.
