Knowing Subsim for some time, at least I register. I love SHIII and SHIV, bought the UBoat missions extension yesterday so went back to SHIV, also like Dangerous Water. I am a beginner as I never play with high realism, not enough time nor patience
. I tried several time for the ambiance, but do not go very far...
Still I love sub-sim, and especially the hunter-hunted stuff, like spending all the torpedoes for nothing because I suck, and trying for several (game) hours to survive the destroyers' hunt (of me
).
I also tried to write a simplified "map-controlled" online naval game, but failed to finish it. Well actually I finished it in a sense, but killed the interest by wrong choices. I tested the subs alone and that was fun, trying to find and kill the enemy, then mixed up everything on top of that and it's not so fun anymore. You can still have a try here:

If someone is good with Java and want to enhance/fork it, just ask for it (the "hybrid" licence is a experiment, but don't bother for that). Eventually I will finish it
