When I saw the Uss Helena Article on Msn I was drawn to it due to the fact that back in 1992 I bought my first pc because of Software Company Micro Prose of Silent Service Fame had just Released Taskforce 1942 the Simulation was a real gem focusing on the Guadalcanal Campaign in world war two.
you could have up to sixteen surface vessels fighting each other on both sides
there was a full Campaign or you could make your own missions.
Also in the simulations manual, there was a section on sources of good information on the Solomons Campaign it recommended the Two Ocean War by Samuel Eliot Morison.
I bought the book and what a great read it was those brutal bloody night naval engagements around Guadalcanal Savo island iron bottom sound.
A must-have book that would compliment A naval enthusiasts bookcase.
