Agreed, the manned part of warfare is being radically altered. There will always be a need for the PBI, but all of their support equipment is becoming automated, and they themselves will have advancements, be it genetic or bio-mechanical, in the not so far future. Exo-skeletons are pretty much beginning to arrive now, which means they'll probably find a way to make the PBI carry even more crap on their back.
Slowly the human is being taken out of warfare...and if I'm honest...I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not.
