It cannot be emphasized enough how important the factor of air attacks was in the minds of ship commanders in the Pacific, the sobering examples of the losses incurred to German air action in the Med and the superb effect of air on sea assets in the Pacific by the Japanese who sank just about everything in sight at the opening of the war....mos of it from the air, was always on the minds of captains at sea in any class of vessel. well done.
