Well I guess yesterday Valve accidentally released the Dev version of their software, and when I ran SH4 no text would load. Today they fixed it and text loads. It runs with the same sound issue however.
It's gotta be an issue with Linux mint sound drivers. Still gotta install ubunut Studio I guess.
