British Sopwith Camels launch from the aircraft carrier HMS Furious and attack the German base at Tondern (Tønder, Denmark), destroying 2 German zeppelins for the loss of one aircraft. The planes on the deck of the HMS Furious.

French liner "Australien" (Messageries Maritimes) torpedoed in Mediterranean, 20 lost.

American armoured cruiser USS San Diego hits a mine and sinks, resulting in 6 deaths. It is the only major US warship loss in the war.

"Justicia" (White Star liner) torpedoed off north coast of Ireland, 10 lost.

Australien (France) The passenger ship was sunk in the Mediterranean Sea 26 nautical miles (48 km) north east of Cap Bon, Tunisia by SM UC-54 ( Kaiserliche Marine) with the loss of three of her 951 passengers and seventeen of her crew.
HM CMB-50 (Royal Navy) The Coastal Motor Boat was lost on this date.
Eguskia (Spain) The cargo ship was sunk in the Mediterranean Sea 70 nautical miles (130 km) north of Bardia, Libya by SM UB-105 ( Kaiserliche Marine). Her crew survived.
Justicia (United Kingdom) The troopship was torpedoed and damaged in the Atlantic Ocean off Malin Head, County Donegal by SM UB-64 ( Kaiserliche Marine). She was taken in tow but was torpedoed and sunk the next day (55°38′N 7°39′W) by SM UB-124 ( Kaiserliche Marine) with the loss of ten of her crew.
