Default Merchants in OM actually ram you submerged? lol

Had a great career going, over 100k tons down in 4 patrols on almost 100 realism. Finally figured German TDC out.

Was attacking an unescorted(except for CAMS merchant, which is not much of an escort) convoy off Freetown, Africa at dawn in May 1941, had just sunk three ships, a CAMS Merchant ,large 9000 ton tanker and smaller merchant. Was moving in at flank speed with scope up to attack a large merchant.I sweeped around with scope(external cam off) and saw a large merchant making a hard fast turn and filling my scope, was maybe 100m away, I ordered 40m depth but it the boat was not fast enough, ships rammed me, destroying my attack scope, destroying forwardtorpedo tubes, forward torpedo room bulkhead, causing massive flooding.

Sub soon took a serious down angle by the bow due to flooding and despite going back emergency, couldnt stop boat from going deeper.Reluctantly I ordered emergency blow and after a fight surfaced and went a head full to get away from convoy and head for Lorient.Suppose more merchant ships are armed now because the freighter that rammed me was still close and opened up with a stern mount deck gun.4 shots at near point blank range missed me but one hit me amidships, causing flooding in control room.Soon my sub began to sink and could not control it nor blow ballast(assume although not rendered in 3d, the con room was considered flooded and thus could not operate once fully flooded. My sub was went down, well below the red line on depth gauge, damage went to 100 and depth gauge went to 500m , not long after, game over.

Was not prepared for the ramming or the quick sinking.I assume the sub damage model in OM is different, geared to represent how fragile a sub is in regards to gun hits or ramming? Pretty cool.

Now starting a career in Norway in 1942, hit the Arctic Convoys
