That's an interesting note. We've had many discussions on this subject, and most sources say HE only.
My main source is John Campbell's
Naval Weapons Of World War Two, which specifies AP and Starshell for destroyers and minesweepers, which implies not for u-boats, but doesn't say it directly.
I've just finished looking at the U-105 listings at
