Default The progress of Yasen-M class construction

The first Yasen-M class SSN and the second of Yasen series - Kazan is now going through her trials and would soon join Russian Navy.

The sub was first taken into the transfer dock:

and then launched into the waters from it this april:

After the rather inactive contruction of the first Yasen series - the Yasen class SSN Severodvinsk (20 years from being laid down to being accepted into service) Kazan is a de-facto leading boat in the new SSN class (Yasen-M) and was laid down in 2009.

This means that it was in construction for about 8 years, which makes the construction times compatable to European SSN programs (namely Astute class) if sadly much lengthier than the Soviet construction times or present day US ones (due to the lack of economies of scale say Victor-III or Akula series had).
