"Hinman" of the Bowfin (in my story, not in RL) was a tribute to a fictional WWII US submarine captain an author named Harry Homewood wrote a novel about. The novel was called Final Harbour, and it hooked me on US fleet boats when I was young. Sadly, his books are out of print.
I expect I'll contribute more stories soon. I'm playing SH4 in most of my free time.
